Wilson employees have again shown their giving nature by exceeding the 2010 Shelby County United Way Campaign goal. Wilson’s goal in this “Lending a Helping Hand” campaign was $34,000. Actual donations amounted to $35,438.28 or 104.2% of goal. As an added incentive, since the goal was met, the hospital contributed 10% back to the Holly Fund to help employees in need.
This is the 53rd year that the Shelby County United Way has been serving the citizens, organizations, and companies of the county. According to Bob Parker, Executive Director of the Shelby County United Way, the county goal for 2010 was $1,275,000 with the actual donations reaching $1,304,484 or 102.3% of goal. Money collected is distributed back to those in need throughout Shelby County serving people of all ages, from the youngest to the oldest in the impact areas of Investing in Children and Youth, Strengthening Families and Individuals, Promoting Health and Well Being, Enriching the Lives of Seniors, and Caring for People in Crisis. Jerry Vanderhorst, 2010 United Way Campaign Chair noted “There is no better way to help give your neighbor a hand than through the United Way.”
