Wilson Health along with the Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday to officially open the new Wilson Health Cancer Center located on their main hospital campus in Sidney, Ohio.
Government officials, chamber and community leaders, along with Wilson Health leadership gathered to officially cut the ribbon for the new cancer center, which started treating patients in May of 2022.
"With the growing demand for community cancer care, this new facility offers patients throughout the upper Miami Valley access to an array of oncology and hematology services all in one convenient location," said Mark Klosterman, president and CEO, Wilson Health.
The center includes four private chemotherapy infusion bays, three exam rooms and a procedure room and offers diagnostics, cancer pathology, tumor staging, access to timely treatment, access to complex specialized cancer surgical services, chemotherapy and cancer infusion, clinical trials and other supportive services to enhance survivorship.
The Wilson Health Cancer Center is further enhanced through a collaboration with Premier Health, Southwest Ohio’s only certified member of MD Anderson Cancer Network®, a program of MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the nation’s leading cancer centers.
“The collaboration between Wilson Health and Premier Health enables patients to have access to a clinical team that provides state-of-the-art treatments and advanced research, right here in the heart of Shelby County,” said Tarek Sabagh, MD, a Premier Physician Network medical oncologist who is part of the group staffing Wilson Health Cancer Center.
"This new collaboration is a natural step for growing cancer services in the Shelby County area and providing patients with a more complete spectrum of care to meet their needs," said Klosterman. "Our goal is to provide high-quality specialty care close to home for these cancer patients. The center is located at our main hospital campus which means patients will also have quick access to an array of advanced healthcare services including diagnostic imaging such as CT and MRI."
