The Shoemaker family knows the impact of giving back to the community that has given so much to them. Although Tom Shoemaker passed away in early 2023, he and his wife Sandy made provisions for continued support of Wilson Health.

“My parents left a legacy as financial supporters of Wilson Health,”
said Anne Marie Poore, daughter of Tom and Sandy Shoemaker. “They believe in and value community, knowing when people in the community step up, it helps ensure vital services—such as healthcare — remain strong.”

The Shoemakers have long been community and philanthropically minded, with interests spanning education, social services, and healthcare. Sidney residents since 1972, the couple owned and operated hotels in Sidney and surrounding areas. Working in the hospitality industry, providing outstanding service and offering an exceptional experience became second nature for Tom and Sandy.

“Leading by example best describes how dad lived every day. Knowing his financial gift enables Wilson Health to further its mission and offer patients and their loved ones the best possible experience when it comes to their healthcare—dad would be humbled,” said Anne Marie. “Following his lead and giving back to one’s community is an easy example to follow.”
