SIDNEY (September 3, 2015) – Wilson Health awarded the DAISY award for the third quarter of 2015 to Mary Bohman, RN.
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. It shows the appreciation of all that nurses do to make a difference in the patients’ lives. Nominations can be made for nurses by patients, staff and visitors.
“Mary is truly a nurse that I will never forget because of her caring demeanor and optimistic persona,” said the nominee. The nominee recently faced anxiety and feared the worst before a recent surgery. With Bohman as her nurse, Bohman went above and beyond to make the patient feel calm and think optimistically.
“Mary, not only demonstrated exceptional nursing skills, but she also worked with the surgical team to keep my husband informed on updates and what to expect after surgery. I want to thank Mary for including the mind, body and spirit of nursing as she delivers care to each of her patients, such as me,” the nominee stated.
Bohman began her career at Wilson Health 10 years ago in the Emergency Department. Most recently, in November, she transitioned to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Wilson. Bohman graduated from Clark Technical College in Springfield, Ohio with her Associate’s degree in Nursing.
Wilson Health picks a new nurse once every quarter to honor with the DAISY award.
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses was established by the DAISY Foundation, a not-for-profit, based in Glen Ellen, California. The foundation was started by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at the age of 33 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, a little known but uncommon autoimmune disease.
The care that Patrick and his family received from nurses inspired this means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patients’ families. Today, there are more than 1,400 healthcare facilities around the country honoring their nurses with the DAISY award.
