There are still openings available for golfers to participate in the 2011 Wilson Memorial Hospital Foundation Golf Classic on July 11. “Anyone who enjoys the great game of golf is encouraged to call and sign up for a fun and exciting day that also helps the best cause of all—your family’s health,” said Dale Peterson, chairman for the event.
The outing will take place at the Shelby Oaks Golf Club with proceeds going toward the Wilson Foundation’s endowment fund to help support the Hospital’s future healthcare needs. Titanium sponsors for this year’s annual golf event include: Dale Peterson and Associates, Inc.; Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc.; and Premier Health Care Services, Inc. Lunch is being sponsored by Kettering Anesthesia Associates, Inc. Cart sponsorships are also available and allow a business or individual to sponsor a cart for $100 and, in turn, receive very visible promotion on the cart and in the program.
“Since the first event in 1995, Wilson’s golf outing has grown considerably and is now one of the premier golf events in the area.” said Peterson. “Fortunately we have always enjoyed great community and business support. For several years, we have had all openings filled before we could even promote the outing, but the economic environment the last couple of years has impacted our community and our event. We still have some open slots that we would love to fill.”
Since inception, the Foundation Golf Outing has netted over $600,000 for the hospital. The proceeds enhance the Wilson Foundation’s endowment fund which provides a continuous source of financial support for the future needs of the community hospital.
The handicapped 18-hole scramble will begin by a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. with registration beginning at 10:00 a.m. A patio buffet lunch will be served at the turn. Cocktails and dinner will take place at 5:00 p.m., followed by awards and prizes. Dinner will be catered by The Spot Restaurant and includes a prime rib and chicken buffet.
The “closest to the pin” prize this year is one week at a Westin Resort villa on Hilton Head Island. Details about the trip will be provided at the golf outing. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top four teams, longest putt, and the longest drive. Door and raffle prizes will be available for all golfers.
Sponsorship levels include: Titanium level $3,100, includes four golfers; Platinum level, over $1,100, includes four golfers; Diamond level, $1,100, includes four golfers; Gold level, $825, includes three golfers; Silver level, $550, includes two golfers; and Bronze level, $275, includes one golfer. “We are truly grateful to the countless people involved from volunteers and committee members to the golfers themselves who help to make this event a success. It is wonderful to see so many people come together for the benefit of our community and Wilson Memorial Hospital,” said Bonnie Faulkner, executive director of the Wilson Foundation.
Committee members for this year’s golf classic are: Dale Peterson, chair, Marla Flinn, Tracy Vondenhuevel, John Wolfinger, Ethel Estep, Don Kindell, Deanna Kindell, and Bonnie Faulkner.
