Shelby Oaks Golf Club in Sidney was the site for the 20th annual Wilson Memorial Hospital Foundation Golf Classic on July 14. Net proceeds for the event were over $50,000, which will be used to build the Foundation’s general endowment fund. This fund provides perpetual support to Wilson Memorial Hospital. Total net funds raised since this event’s inception in 1995 are nearly $783,200.
147 golfers were registered to play in the event corporately supported by five Titanium sponsors: Advanced Composites; Honda of America Manufacturing, Inc.; Kettering Health Network; NKTelco; and Premier Physician Services. The event attracted a total of 48 sponsors.
Bonnie Faulkner, executive director, Wilson Memorial Hospital Foundation, thanked everyone for their support of Wilson and the golf outing. She continued stating, “This is the 20th year for this event and, believe it or not, there are some who have participated every year! They are: Advanced Composites, Ferguson Construction, KeyBridge Medical Revenue Management, and Ruese Insurance. What a commitment to Wilson and the health of our community.”
Faulkner then introduced Mark Dooley, Wilson Memorial’s new president & CEO who offered his thanks and appreciation to sponsors as well as those whose work and assistance behind the scenes contributed to the event’s success.
Kettering Anesthesia Associates, Inc. sponsored a hearty brunch served prior to the 11:00 shotgun start. Beverages and snacks on each Par 3 hole were provided by Orthopedic Associates of SW Ohio. Plastipak Packaging donated water on the course. Cocktails and dinner were offered at 5:00 p.m., followed by awards and prizes. Dinner, underwritten by NKTelco, included a prime rib and chicken buffet and was catered by The Spot Restaurant.
Cart sponsors helped to defray the cost of the volunteers’ carts and included Air Handling, Inc.; Edison Community College; Flinn Veterinary Clinic; Francis-Schulze Co.; KTH Parts Industries; S & S Management, Inc.; Thermoseal, Inc.; and Unity National Bank.
Jeanie Bosslet was the winner of the closest-to-the-pin prize, a one-week stay in a Westin Resort villa at Hilton Head courtesy of the Wilson Memorial Hospital Foundation. Bosslet’s skill won the same prize at the 2008 Wilson Golf Outing.
Hank Zimpfer won the putting contest sponsored by Wilson Memorial Hospital Foundation and received the $400 reward.
Mike Brendel was the lucky winner of a three-night stay in a tower guest room at the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa in Reno.
Overall first place winners of the event included: the Dickman Supply Team of Doug Borchers, Luke Allen, Kevin Geise, and Jason Geise. Second Place winners the team of John Dunlap, Ken Bosslet, John Craig and Bruce Dickman. There was a tie for third place between the team of Mark Dunham, Josh Ross, and Elmer Schlater and the team of Ernie Vibbert, Dave Voisard, Jerry Stammen and Phil Schulze.
The SKINS two winning teams splitting a $400 prize were the Honda of America Mfg. team and the Fahlgren Mortine team.
All golfers received various gift items and door prizes. Outstanding proximity prizes and those for longest putts and longest drives were awarded to 27 golfers. Donors of these prizes included: Atlantis Casino Resort & Spa - Reno; Allied Supply Company; Primary EyeCare Associates; Wilson Memorial Hospital Imaging; Francis-Schulze; Dayton Flyers; Piqua Country Club and Robart Golf; Allison’s Custom Jewelry; Cincinnati Reds; Dollywood; Radisphere; Sollmann Electric; Wilson Memorial Hospital Occupational Health; Elsass, Wallace, Evans & Schnelle; Dayton Flyers; Akron Racers; Freshway Foods; CDW Healthcare; Wilson Memorial Hospital Foundation; Heapy Engineering; The Medicine Shoppe; The Ohio State University Theatre Department; and Xavier University Athletics.
Many community volunteers and the Hospital’s plant operations department assisted with the event.
